What is a first birthday photoshoot?

It is the perfect session designed to celebrate your baby’s first birthday and create playful baby pictures of your little one. We let them have fun with their smash cake while I photograph their joy and experience of smashing their first birthday cake. We will end the session with a quick milk bath, and let your baby splash away.

When is the best time to schedule a first birthday photoshoot for my baby?

I recommend parents to book the cake smash baby photoshoot 1 to 2 months before their actual birthday so they can have the images ready by the actual birth date. 

 

However, that is just a suggestion and so, parents can book the cake smash photoshoot whenever they want to.

 

What should my child wear for their cake smash photos?

We have wardrobe options available for 1 year old babies. You are more than welcome to pick from one of our dresses. Or if you have something in mind that we do not have, you can bring your own outfit.

 

How should I prepare my child for their cake smash?

I usually book baby photoshoots around the time when your baby would have had their nap and be fresh for a cake smash photography session. If they are hungry, feed them before you arrive at the studio. However, babies are unpredictable so fret not. We will take it as we go. You are more than welcome to feed your baby at the studio as well.

Can I bring my own cake for the first birthday photoshoot?

Smash cakes are included in your session fee. However, they will be basic cake smash cakes with coloured frosting. If you wish to bring toppers for the cake or anything additional to add to your baby's cake smash pictures, you are more than welcome to.

 

How long does a cake smash photography session typically last?

Cake smash photography sessions can last up to 1.5 hours to 2 hours, depending on how the baby co-operates during the session.

How much should I expect to pay for a cake smash photography session?

Do I need to bring any props or decorations for the first birthday photoshoot?

All props and decorations are provided for. However, if you wish to include any personal items in your baby pictures, you are more than welcome to bring those items along with you on the day of the cake smash session.

 

Can siblings or family members participate in the first birthday photoshoot?

Generally, all sessions include parents and sibling photos. If you wish to include any other extended family members in the session, I advise that you chat to me about it. Sometimes I may not be able to accommodate any more family members since baby photoshoots can get tiring for the baby. And getting extra images photographed can be a challenge and require extra studio time.

 

How soon after the cake smash photoshoot can I expect to receive the photos?

The soft proof photos are usually up for viewing 3 days after the session. You will be required to select the ones you wish to purchase. Once the selection has been made, the fully edited digitals will be available in your online gallery within 1 week.

Your products, however, will be delivered to you 3 weeks after the edited digitals are made available to you.

 

What should I do with the photos from the cake smash photography?

I offer museum grade prints and wall art that is the perfect way to display those fun baby photos. You will also receive matching digital files that can be shared online and used to reprint photos from the cake smash session for family and friends.
