When is the best time to schedule a newborn photoshoot?

Newborn photoshoot are best scheduled within the first 4 weeks of the baby being born. This is the time when the babies are easily pacified since they usually sleep a lot. That makes it easier to pose them and get all those curly, sleepy baby poses. 

However, if you skip the initial weeks due to personal reasons, we may still be able to accommodate you. Although sleepy poses may be hard to capture after the 4 week mark, I will still try my best to put together a photo shoot for you that captures your newborn’s beauty.

How long does a newborn photoshoot take?

Newborn sessions can last from 2.5 to 3.5 hours. I generally do not go above that, since it can get tiring for both the baby and the new parents, especially the mother. You can read our full article on how long the newborn photos take here.

 

What should my newborn wear or bring to the photoshoot?

All newborn dresses are provided for. Unless we are incorporating a personal outfit for the session, you will not be required to bring anything, except for change of clothes and nappies.

Do I need to prepare my baby for session, and if so, how?

I do not require parents to prepare their baby in any way. They have a schedule of their own and I do not mess around with it. The only thing I do require is that the baby be fed before the session.
 

Can I include family members or siblings in the newborn photos?

This is a Family Newborn photoshoot, which includes parents and sibling photos. If you wish to include any other extended family members in the session, I advise that you chat to me about it. Sometimes I may not be able to accommodate any more family members since newborn photoshoot can get tiring for the babies. And getting extra images photographed can be challenging.

How many photos will I receive from the newborn photoshoot, and how will they be delivered?

Can I request specific poses or props?

Yes, you definitely can, I include up to 3 props and styles in a newborn session. I usually have a consultation with my clients before the session so we can discuss your vision for the kind of images you want for your newborn baby. Any suggestions are most welcomed during our consultation call.

 

What if my baby is fussy or doesn't cooperate during the photoshoot?

I have had the fussiest of babies and in all these years, I have never sent anyone back home, except one. 

However, if your baby does refuse to settle down for the session, I will reschedule another time and date with you for your newborn photos.

 

How much should I expect to pay for a newborn photography package?

My newborn photography package is structured as follows.

The design consultation, setting up of the shoot and actual shoot time have a session fee of $250.

Photos and products will have to be purchased separately.

What should I look for in a newborn photographer, and how can I ensure their safety and professionalism?

Your newborn photographer should be able to answer all your questions and concerns. And explain to you every step. Usually new photographers will still be in their learning phase, so if you absolutely want to ensure your baby’s safety, I highly suggest hiring photographers with a few years of experience.
